The Brilliance of Beethoven, Visualized

As many times as I have listened to the second movement (molto vivace) of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, I don’t think I ever enjoyed a recorded version of it as fully as I did while watching this rolling bar graph of the movement in its entirety. The music is performed by the Philharmonia Baroque, directed by Nicholas McGegan, and the display is generated by the Music Animation Machine MIDI file player.

    Very interesting. I’d be curious to see what pieces by different composers from both the same and other periods look like.
